Eine gestiegene Bewertung der Beteiligung am US-Softwarehaus OpenAI hat Softbank zu einem Gewinnsprung verholfen. Der Überschuss des Geschäftsjahres 2025/2026 sei mit umgerechnet 27 Milliarden Euro der höchste eines japanischen Unternehmens überhaupt, sagte Yoshimitsu Goto, Finanzchef des Technologie-Investors, am Mittwoch. Allein im abgelaufenen Quartal habe Softbank einen Gewinn von knapp zehn Milliarden Euro verbucht, mehr als dreimal so viel wie im Vorjahreszeitraum. Softbank hatte sich im vergangenen Jahr für 30 Milliarden Dollar am ChatGPT-Entwickler OpenAI beteiligt. Der Technologieinvestor verzeichnet das vierte Gewinnquartal in Folge.
