LVMH Posts Biggest Quarterly Drop Since Dot-Com; UBS Sees Luxury Opportunity (ZeroHedge)

LVMH Posts Biggest Quarterly Drop Since Dot-Com; UBS Sees Luxury Opportunity LVMH, the owner of Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior, Fendi, Bvlgari, Moët & Chandon, and dozens of other luxury brands, just posted its worst quarter since the dot-com bust era, making it the worst-performing European luxury stock this year as demand for luxury handbags, shoes, watches, perfumes, and wines continues to soften amid an intensifying Middle East conflict. LVMH shares in Paris tumbled 28% in the first quarter, exceeding quarterly declines seen during Covid and the 2008 financial crisis, but not surpassing the 41% third-quarter decline in 2001. Peers Richemont fell 20%, and Hermès slid 25% in the quarter. "Elevated global uncertainty has generated significant investor anxiety, particularly among those who had been anticipating a long-awaited recovery in luxury demand this year. This has driven a sharp sector de-rating across luxury," UBS analyst Zuzanna Pusz wrote in a note for clients on Tuesday...

Dior, Chanel and … Veja? The ethical Paris trainer worn by A-listers and royalty (The Guardian)

Veja doesn't do surveys or freebies, hates greenwashing and Black Friday, and as demand for trainers wanes, it continues to go its own wayIn the grand hierarchy of Paris fashion, it's tricky for a brand to stand out. Especially one whose coup de maître is a goes-with-everything white sneaker. Yet 20 years after Veja first began selling sustainable footwear, it has become the ultimate affordable It brand for scooter-wielding mums, sustainably minded millennials and A-list bigwigs who want to wear their values on their ethical leather-clad feet.Veja's co-founder Sébastien Kopp says he doesn't know if people buy his trainers because of how they are made or because of how they look. The company is fastidious about social and fairtrade practices, “but because we don't do surveys, we don't do marketing, we simply don't know this information”, he says, speaking from Veja's Paris headquarters. 1 Granary: the influential platform holding the fashion establishment to account (The Guardian)

Olya Kuryshchuk's publication is a rare – and increasingly powerful – voice advocating for the people behind the scenes in an industry that loves a star. Its new awards celebrate the 'teams who never get to walk a red carpet'At the Fashion awards – a lavish event at the Royal Albert Hall this month – Jonathan Anderson was named designer of the year for a third time for his work at his own namesake brand and Dior, Anok Yai was named model of the year and Delphine Arnault, the CEO of Dior and scion of fashion's wealthiest family, gained a special recognition award for her work supporting new talent through the LVMH prize. Think of it as fashion paying tribute to its biggest stars.Since the night, there has been praise for the British Fashion Council's new CEO Laura Weir but also criticism. The anonymous Instagram account boringnotcom, which often shares strong opinions on the industry, wrote: “As predicted, the same names got rotated and won the fashion awards … how utterly boring.” Conti...

McAfee Labs Research Reveals the Most Impersonated Brands of Holiday Season 2025 and How Shoppers Can Spot the Fakes (Business Wire)

New insights reveal how scammers copy trusted brands during peak shopping season and what every shopper can do to stay one step ahead. Key Findings Tech tops the Cybergrinch list: Scammers are most frequently impersonating major tech brands, especially those tied to popular devices and gaming platforms, like Apple, Nintendo, Samsung, Disney, and Steam. Apple is the number one brand cybercriminals pretend to be, often creating convincing fake websites that look like real Apple pages. Luxury brands are a prime target: Counterfeit storefronts for handbags, sneakers, and limited-edition drops — for example, Coach, Dior, Gucci, Rolex, and Ralph Lauren — surged 45%, with cybercriminals mimicking brand visuals and holiday promo language. Shopping scams are rising before the season even starts: 91% of Americans say they're seeing ads from unfamiliar retailers, exposing them to more scam URLs and lookalike sites. That risk is already visible: scam-related URLs climbed about 10% from early October to early Nov...
