How China′s EV makers think they can outrun disastrous price wars (SCMP)
|
|
|
The era of price wars in China's electric vehicle (EV) market is giving way to a new contest: who can deliver better technology at the same price.
On a cloudy evening in March, Shenzhen-based BYD put forward its answer with the unveiling of a battery capable of charging from 10 to 70 per cent in just five minutes – and to 97 per cent in nine minutes. The company said it would apply the technology to models priced as low as 155,000 yuan (US$22,500) while building 20,000 charging stations this......

Americans Are Becoming More And More Interested In Buying Chinese EVs
As electric vehicle (EV) adoption grows in the United States, a segment of American consumers is increasingly drawn to Chinese-made models—largely due to their affordability, advanced technology, and feature-rich designs. However, steep trade barriers and political resistance continue to keep these vehicles out of the U.S. market, according to Reuters.
With the average price of a new car in the U.S. մոտ $50,000, Chinese EVs—many of which sell for under $30,000 in international markets—are gaining attention for offering strong value. Models from automakers such as BYD, Geely, and Zeekr often include premium interiors, advanced driver-assistance systems, and unique features like in-car entertainment and mini refrigerators, typically found in higher-end vehicles.
Reuters writes that industry experts note that Chinese automakers have rapidly improved both quality and innovation. China has recently surpassed Japan to b...

Fazit: Unsicherheit dominiert. Geopolitik bleibt entscheidend. Anleger bleiben vorsichtig positioniert.

China's electric vehicle (EV) king BYD posted its first annual profit drop in four years as it faced intensifying competition from domestic rivals in a cutthroat market.

BYD And VinFast Race To Dominate Southeast Asia's EV Market
BYD and VinFast are rapidly expanding their presence in Southeast Asia, where electric vehicles are gaining traction and competition is intensifying, according to Nikkei. Both companies have emerged as the fastest-growing car brands in the region's six largest markets in 2025, with sales rising about 95% for BYD and 90% for VinFast compared with the previous year.
VinFast sold more than 100,000 vehicles across countries including Indonesia, Vietnam, and Thailand, while BYD delivered roughly 70,000 units. Together, they account for around 7% of total vehicle sales in a regional market of approximately 2.4 million cars. Their rapid growth has contributed to a decline in market share for long-dominant Japanese automakers such as Toyota, Honda, and Mitsubishi.
Nikkei writes that VinFast's strategy emphasizes affordability and ecosystem development. The company has focused on lowering prices, building charging infrastructure, and inve...
