Hong Kong stocks fell on Thursday as the price wars in the food delivery and electric vehicle (EV) sectors and AI chipmaker Nvidia's downbeat outlook weighed on sentiment.
The Hang Seng Index dropped 1.1 per cent to 24,929.18 at 9.58am local time, on course for a third day of loss. The Hang Seng Tech Index also lost 1.1 per cent. On the mainland, the CSI 300 Index rose 0.1 per cent, while the Shanghai Composite Index retreated 0.1 per cent.

Chinese on-demand local services giant Meituan saw second-quarter earnings fall, as it faced off against Alibaba Group Holding and JD.com in a costly instant delivery price war.
Beijing-based Meituan on Wednesday reported weaker-than-expected revenue of 91.8 billion yuan (US$12.8 billion) in the quarter ended June 30. That was up 11.7 per cent from 82.2 billion yuan a year earlier, but fell short of the 93.7 billion yuan estimate by analysts.

Chinese on-demand local services giant Meituan posted an 18.1 per cent year-on-year surge in revenue for the first quarter, as it seeks to maintain its dominant position on the mainland in the food delivery market amid new competition.
Meituan's revenue for the three months through March was 86.6 billion yuan (US$12 billion). Net profit reached 10.1 billion yuan, up 87.3 per cent year on year.
