Amid widespread store closures by foreign fast-fashion players in China, US apparel brand Gap is defying industry headwinds.
It plans to open 50 new stores in mainland China this year and return to Hong Kong by year's end, following a localisation overhaul that has attracted more Chinese consumers.

(Nasdaq: ASRT) (“Assertio” or the “Company”) today announced the successful completion of its previously announced merger (the “Merger”) with Zydus Lifesciences Ltd. (“Zydus Lifesciences”) pursuant to the terms of the Agreement and Plan of Merger, dated as of May 13, 2026 (the “Merger Agreement”), between, among others, the Company, Zydus Worldwide DMCC, a limited liability company incorporated under the laws of the United Arab Emirates and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Zydus Lifesciences (“Zydus”) and Zara Merger Sub Inc., a Delaware corporation and wholly owned subsidiary of Zydus and Zydus Lifesciences (“Purchaser”).
