Hong Kong stocks extend solid run on Tencent earnings, China money supply (SCMP)

Hong Kong stocks on Thursday extended the gains from Wednesday's highest close in three weeks, as better-than-expected earnings by Tencent Holdings added to signs that China's economic activity is picking up.
The Hang Seng Index rose 0.3 per cent to 25,700.51 as of 10.11am local time. The Hang Seng Tech Index gained 0.5 per cent.
On the mainland, the CSI 300 Index climbed 0.9 per cent and the Shanghai Composite Index added 0.5 per cent.

A four-day gain in Hong Kong stocks took a respite, as disappointing earnings results put investors on edge and concerns lingered that China's deflation would drag on.
The Hang Seng Index fell 0.5 per cent to 24,952.38 as of 10.15am local time. Still, the benchmark has risen 1.6 per cent for the week on bets that the Federal Reserve will cut interest rates on the back of the weak labour market data.

Hong Kong stocks dropped to a two-week low after the Federal Reserve flagged increasing inflationary risk for the economy and the conflict in the Middle East jeopardised global oil supply.
The Hang Seng Index fell 0.8 per cent to 23,516.48 as of 10.12am local time. The Hang Seng Tech Index shed 0.7 per cent.
