Die Aktien europäischer Telekommunikationsunternehmen sind am Freitag gefallen, nachdem Space Exploration Technologies die Übernahme eines landesweiten US-Frequenzportfolios angekündigt hat. Mit diesem Schritt soll der Satellitendienst Starlink zu einem vollwertigen Mobilfunkanbieter ausgebaut werden.. --- „Dieses erstklassige Low-Band-Spektrum schließt eine der wichtigsten verbleibenden technischen Lücken und ebnet Starlink Mobile den Weg, ein bedeutender Mobilfunkanbieter in den USA zu werden“, teilte SpaceX mit. CEO Elon Musk bezeichnete den Schritt in einem Beitrag auf der Plattform X als eine „sehr große Sache“. Im Gegensatz zu Satellitenfrequenzen eignen sich diese Lizenzen für die Versorgung über Mobilfunkmasten. Sobald die FCC die Genehmigung erteilt, will SpaceX seine wachsende Satellitenkonstellation mit einem „fortschrittlichen terrestrischen Netz“ koppeln, um auch Orte abzudecken, die Satelliten nicht erreichen können, wie etwa in Gebäuden..
