CATL posts 34% profit growth, defying weak global EV demand (SCMP)

Contemporary Amperex Technology (CATL), the world's largest electric vehicle (EV) battery maker, saw net profit surge in the second quarter on the back of a successful share sale in Hong Kong to fund its global expansion.
The company's net profit rose 34 per cent year on year to 16.5 billion yuan (US$2.3 billion) in the three months to June, beating market estimates. That was up from a 32.9 per cent increase in the March quarter.
