Laut dem Vorsitzenden des größten Kupferproduzenten Chiles wird das Unternehmen dieses und nächstes Jahr seine Minenproduktion im Vergleich zum Vorjahr voraussichtlich leicht steigern können. Dies wäre eine Überraschung angesichts der Tatsache, dass die Produktion aufgrund eines Unfalls in einer der wichtigsten Minen des Unternehmens (El Teniente) deutlich beeinträchtigt wurde. Bislang liegt die Minenproduktion des Landes, das im vergangenen Jahr noch 23% des globalen Kupfererzes gefördert hatte, insgesamt noch etwa 3% unter dem Vorjahresniveau (auf Basis der Daten des Statistikamtes bis einschließlich September). Sollte der größte Minenproduzent Chiles in der Tat seine Produktion in den kommenden Monaten noch spürbar ausweiten können, könnte dies die aktuellen Sorgen rund um einen Rohmaterialmangel deutlich lindern..
