Die Wirtschaft wird vor allem von Fischerei und Fischverarbeitung sowie vom Tourismus getragen. Daneben spielen energieintensive Industrie, insbesondere Aluminiumproduktion, sowie Dienstleistungen eine wichtige Rolle.
