Ten Maersk Ships 'Trapped' In Persian Gulf

The closure of the Strait of Hormuz by Iran has effectively trapped 10 Maersk ships in the Persian Gulf, its chief executive said.
In separate interviews with CNN and the Wall Street Journal, Vincent Clerc said the Danish carrier's ships “cannot get out,” are “stuck in the Upper Gulf” and cannot leave the region.
As a safety measure, Clerc said the vessels have been grouped offshore and away from ports under attack. At least one ship is under contract to the U.S. government's Military Sealift Command, according to data on maritime identification websites.
Even if a ceasefire allowed vessel traffic to begin moving, Clerc said it would take a week to 10 days for the world's second-largest liner (MAERSK-B.CO) to resume normal operations.
Clerc's comments underscore the frustrations of shipping lines who have requested and repeatedly been denied naval escorts by the Trump administration. Carrier...

Der DAX verlor am Freitag 0,9 % und schloss bei 23.591 Punkten. Damit summiert sich das Wochenminus auf rund 5 %. Belastet wurde der Markt erneut von der geopolitischen Unsicherheit rund um den Iran-Krieg und vom Ölpreis, der für viele Anleger inzwischen der entscheidende Taktgeber ist. Dazu kam ein schwächer als erwarteter US-Arbeitsmarktbericht für Februar. An der Wall Street startete der Dow Jones daraufhin fast 2 % tiefer bei 47.063 Punkten. Die Sorge: eine Mischung aus Konjunkturabkühlung und anhaltendem Kostendruck. Lufthansa meldet ein Rekordjahr mit 39,6 Mrd. Euro Umsatz und 1,96 Mrd. Euro bereinigtem operativen Ergebnis. Infineon gerät nach einer UBS-Abstufung unter Druck. Bei VW bringt die Betriebsratschefin sogar Rüstungsprojekte als Option ins Spiel. Zealand Pharma bricht nach enttäuschenden Studiendaten um mehr als 30 % ein. Außerdem plant Rüstungszulieferer Vincorion den Börsengang in Frankfurt.
