Chinese Containership Is First To Pay Iran For "Safe Passage" Through Strait As Iraqi Tanker Crosses With Signal Off
The blockaded Strait of Hormuz is getting progressively less "blockaded" by the day.
Over the weekend we reported that "Iran was Ready To Let Japanese Ships Use Hormuz As Chinese, Indian Tankers Already Allowed Passage." We can now add Iraq to the growing list of nations whose vessels are transiting the infamous Strait.
An oil supertanker hauling two-million barrels of Iraq's crude got through the Strait of Hormuz, the first vessel observed moving Baghdad's barrels through the the vital waterway - according to Bloomberg - since it all but closed to commercial shipping because of the Iran war.

Iraq Negotiates With Iran To Reopen Vital Oil Shipping Route
Authored by Tsvetana Paraskova via OilPrice.com,
The federal Iraqi government is in contact with Iran to persuade Tehran to allow some Iraqi oil tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, Iraq's Oil Minister Hayyan Abdul Ghani said on Tuesday.
“There is communication with Iran regarding allowing the passage of some Iraqi oil tankers,” the minister said in statements carried by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
Iraq, unlike Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), doesn't have any options – even partial – to bypass the Strait of Hormuz, which has been closed for over two weeks now, forcing Baghdad to slash oil production as storage sites and tankers available in the Gulf filled up.
Iraq was the first to announce more than a week ago it was slashing crude oil production amid the de facto blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.
Last week Iraq said it would maintain crude oil production at roughly 1.4 million barrels p...

Airlines Still Avoid Iran, Iraq Airspace Despite Reopening - Trump Assures Tehran No Strikes Imminent
Overnight, the world was on edge watching for potential signs of a new US military strike on Iran. This sense of anticipation was only heightened when Iran issued a nationwide "NOTAM" - or "notice to all airmen" - for its airspace which lasted nearly five hours.
All flights were banned except ones to and from Tehran which had been issued special permission. This was coupled with online rumors of fighter jets being heard over neighboring Iraqi airspace, but no new attack materialized. Late in the evening, President Trump also made known his reasons for holding off on any new strikes. Iranian officials say Trump informed Iran he does not intend to attack.
