Die USA sind nach China der zweitwichtigste Handelspartner von Brasilien. Rohstoffe wie Eisenerz, Erdöl, Fleisch oder Zucker, bzw. daraus weiterverarbeitete Produkte machen fast 60% des brasilianischen Exportes aus. Im Gegenzug importiert Brasilien Maschinen, chemische Erzeugnisse und andere Industriegüter. Die Handelsbilanz von Brasilien weist seit vielen Jahren beständig Überschüsse aus.
