Trump-Hailed Mideast Truce Falters With Israel Accusing Iran of Breach | Bloomberg The Pulse 06/24 (Bloomberg)
|
|
A ceasefire declared by US President Donald Trump between Israel and Iran is being put to the test in its early hours, after a missile fired into Israel prompted accusations of a breach. Shortly after Trump declared an end to the 12-day war, Israel said it had detected a missile launch from Iran. Defense Minister Israel Katz instructed the military on Tuesday to “respond forcefully to Iran's violation of the ceasefire with powerful strikes against regime targets in the heart of Tehran.” Iran denied it fired missiles at Israel after the ceasefire came into force, according to the state-run IRIB news agency, which didn't elaborate.

Rabo: Even If Iran Does Not Close Hormuz, Insurance Costs Will Soar Pushing Oil Prices Higher
By Michael Every and Benjamin Picton of Rabobank
The world didn't have to wait long for Donald Trump to make up his mind over bombing Iran's nuclear facilities. Trump last week suggested that he would make a decision “within the next two weeks”, but that appears to have been a case of misdirection with a mission already in train to strike Fordo, Natanz and Esfahan.
Seven B-2 Spirit bombers deployed from Missouri dropped fourteen 30,000lb bunker buster bombs (the world's most powerful non-nuclear weapons) on Fordo and Natanz, while a guided missile submarine hit the Esfahan facility with dozens of Tomahawk missiles. Trump, Hegseth and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs have said that the strikes were an overwhelming success, “obliterating” the Iran's nuclear program.
Markets are, predictably, in risk-off mode this morning as traders contemplate what comes next, but given the gravity of the ev...

Global Fertilizer Market Thrown In Chaos After Mideast War Shutters Iran Urea Production
Agri-Pulse's Oliver Ward reports that “renewed conflict in the Middle East has shuttered urea production in Iran, sending ripples through global fertilizer markets and adding to existing uncertainty around Russian and Chinese supplies, analysts tell Agri-Pulse.”
“Tensions flared between Iran and Israel on Friday when Israel launched what it called a preemptive missile strike targeting Iran's nuclear program and military leadership. Four days later, both sides are reeling from attacks on key infrastructure and shuttered industries, including in the fertilizer sector,” AgriPulse notes. “'Iran has shut down seven of its urea and ammonia plants,' said Mark Milam, senior editor for fertilizers at Independent Commodity Intelligence Services, over concerns that they could be potential Israeli targets.”
“Josh Linville, vice president of fertilizers at commodities analysis firm StoneX, said that ...

President Donald Trump will decide within two weeks whether to strike Iran, his spokeswoman said, as Israel hit more Iranian nuclear sites and warned its attacks may bring down the leadership in Tehran. “Based on the fact that there's a substantial chance of negotiations that may or may not take place with Iran in the near future, I will make my decision whether or not to go within the next two weeks,” Trump said in a dictated message, according to the White House. In corporate news, SoftBank Group founder Masayoshi Son is seeking to team up with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. to realize what could be his biggest bet yet — a trillion-dollar industrial complex in Arizona to build robots and artificial intelligence.

US Officials Plan for Possible Strike on Iran in Coming Days | Bloomberg The Pulse 06/19 (Bloomberg)
|
|
Senior US officials are preparing for the possibility of a strike on Iran in coming days, according to people familiar with the matter, as Israel and the Islamic Republic continue to exchange fire. Some of them pointed to potential plans for a weekend strike. Top leaders at a handful of federal agencies have begun getting ready for an attack, one person said. A missile from Iran on Thursday struck an Israeli hospital for the first time since the war started almost a week ago, a reminder of the risks to civilians in both countries.
